There is plenty by Schoenberg that is beautiful - both tonal and atonal. But for those who can't abide the thought of listening to Schoenberg , listen to this. Then listen a dozen times more. The Gurrelieder is a dreary piece that has absolutely gorgeous moments. But how could the person who writes moments like this be anything but a great composer?
